Babla, the younger brother of famous music director Kalyanji Anandji, is responsible for a lot of Instrumental Albums like Disco Dandia, Disco Aarties, Disco Sensation, Bhule Bisre Geet, Yesterday Once More & many more. Babla & Kanchan were an Indian husband-wife musical group best known for work in the chutney music and Desi music genres. They performed together for forty years until Kanchan died in 2004. Originating from Mumbai, India, their music is well known through the world, especially in countries like Canada, United States, Trinidad, Guyana, Holland, Suriname and England.

Babla's unique contribution to Bollywood music was his great talent to make instrumentals of Hit Hindi Tunes in Western Style or Dandia Style with the same ease and a flair of his own. Although Babla gave music for a few Bollywood movies also, he was best known for his Nonstop Dandiya & Western-style renditions of popular Hit songs. He not only gave a new twist to tunes from movies but also to Aarties (Religious Songs) & Ghazals by making them into Disco-Style Instrumentals.

After appearing in the films Rafoo Chakkar, Dharamatma, and Qurbani, Kanchan joined her husband and began performing and touring. Their engagements abroad (live shows and orchestra music) kept them away from the Indian (Bombay) Film music. They were popular in Caribbean countries, where they covered soca music hits like "Hot Hot Hot" and revived older hits of chutney singer Sundar Popo. Vocal Albums like Kuch Gadbad Hai sold well because of touring support. Kanchan's other albums like Kaise Bani were popular with the Bhojpuri audience. Her fame led to endorsement deals for brands like Johnson & Johnson. As of 2009, they have been succeeded by a similar duo, aptly called Babla & Kanchan 2.
